I require a bottle trap for a bathroom sink but the waste pipe is 40mm rather than 32mm. Are traps available which are 32mm basin end and 40 mm waste end? Also, are there traps which push fit on to the waste pipes? The ones I see all seem to be compression.
Sinks live in kitchens and have 1½" outlets and traps called 40mm or 1½".
Basins normally live in bathrooms and the sizes are 1¼" and 32mm.
All traps you're likely to see are compression, which fit any close size. Though there are pushfit ones they only fit pipe designed for them.
Though you can sometimes change size in the middle of a trap by combining bits from two, it's conventional to step the pipe up from 32 to 40 after you leave the basin trap.
