basin waste simple question ...

i believe the small dribble (which only happens a little while after the waste is emptied) is due to the polystyrene washer - i might just replace that with sealant instead. it can't be anything else really can it?

Otherwise if that fails I'll get a metal waste!! :)

if your talking about the water going between the waste and the basin instead of down the plug hole, it doesn't matter as on a basin waste thats where the overflow go's so still shouldn't leak from the bottom

so i guess it's a cheap dodhy plastic waste!! i'll buy a metal one and let you know how it goes, should be ok though. one last point-what is the plastic ring for, the one with the basin mate? it doesn't seem to do anything!!?

yep, it looks like a thinner backnut but doesn't actually do anything or tighten the thick rubber washer at all!! what is it's use?

yep it was hardish to push it tigheth up to the basin. i think the polystyrene washer was the problem, allowing water through the sides as it wasn't flush with that in place. it's prob as it is a cheap waste and didn't come with the basin.
