Hi guys,

I'm replacing my steel bath as it isn't that deep (31/32mm) with a steel bath of 41mm.

My question is this; are all baths the same distance from top to floor? I ask because there is a wooden frame built under the bath and I am wondering will this need to be raised in order to suit the 41mm bath? I am so confused at the moment.

Can someone explain to me what, if anything, will need to be done in order to replace the bath?

Thanks

That sounds a very shallow bath if its only 41mm deep!

Most baths are a similar height, but they do vary.
However if the existing frame is too low, it could easily be extended by fixing additional pieces of timber on the top of the frame.

This assumes the new bath has the same width and length as the existing one.

Do you really mean 31 mm? - that's about the depth of a bird bath! Most baths are more like 30 - 45 cm deep

The finished height is up to you. Factors you may wish to take into consideration when positioning the tub include the height of the bath panel, the height of any tiling around the tub, and the height of the waste pipe and trap outlet (remembering that water doesn't run uphill)[/i]

Many (most?) bath panels can be trimmed if you wish to install the bath lower than the panel height.

Adding a couple of timber bearers under the feet can help raise the tub if it's too low. They also spread the load and help stop the floor underneath from flexing.

Trying to get waste water to run uphill will always lead to problems, so be prepared to re-route the waste pipe to suit your deeper tub.

Is this bath for a doll's house or do you mean cm?
I'm not sure about other materials, but I know steel baths are available in a lower height for elderly/disabled applications, allowing for easier transfer in and out. The Twyfords Shallow being one. The name's a bit of a giveaway.

1700 x 700 so it's standard in length and breadth.

I suppose an easier way of asking is what height of frame would be required to house a 41cm bath including cradle and feet?

I was hoping it would just be a matter of taking the old bath out and putting the new on in as I intended doing it myself.
