Bath/Shower mixer question, opinions please?

Hello plumbing & heating !

This may sound a random question, but I am about to fit a bath/shower mixer on my bath.

It is a new house (not new build, am just moving in though here) and there is nothing at all at the moment. Not even bath taps!!

Are bath/showers mixers ok or rubbish? I just want it to wash my hair really.

Is there many things than can go wrong with them?

I only paid £40 for it, but if it lasts me 2 years I'd be happy.

Depends on so many things, boiler type ,water supply pressures , other peoples water usage in the property, pipe sizing........
The best Advice I can give it fit the taps and see how you get on.
Why are there no taps at the moment? A bit strange that! Was it like that when you brought the property?

Hi mrgas, thank you for responding to my question.
I know it is odd, there were no taps here at all!! Very weird. I hope the tap threads will fit and I will not need to alter the pipework under the bath... if i do i will need more fittings/pipe.

Are bath mixer's good - do they develop faults in the future like? If so what can these be? I have heard they are ok at times but would like some expert advice, which I am really thankful for.

Good bath mixers are good.
Medium bath mixers are medium.
Poor bath mixer are poor.
All the above CAN go wrong. All taps CAN go wrong.
AS you already have them you may as well fit them and see if they suit your needs.

BEFORE fitting however, check that the bath waste is connected to drain and that there is no problem with it. Use a bucket or hose. It is most unusual to have no taps connected! How is the water isolated to the bath?
