Bath tap leaking when turning on

Afternoon all

I've got a bath mixer tap, maybe 5-6 years old now. Everytime I turn on the hot water, water comes out of the tap housing at a good steady rate.

Am I correct in assuming that the washer needs changing? I guess the housing is ok tho?

Sounds more like the o rings on the spindle have failed.

Agreed.

If the washer had failed, water would drip from the spout when the tap was turned off.

Is it literally a case of taking the tap apart + then simply replacing the o-rings on the spindle itself? The tap type is a basic mixer:

I'm assuming it has 2no. O-rings to replace (I'm only having the problem with the hot water tap)?

Sometimes it's hard to get O-rings exactly the right size for "no name" taps.

It might be better to replace the whole headgear, i.e. spindle, washer etc.

Can't guarantee these particular ones would fit though, need to check number of splines on old one etc.
