My nephew has purchased a semi-detached and the single bathroom has no shower.

The boiler feeds a HW storage tank sited on a 18" high platform on the 1st floor, the same floor as the bathroom.

Would a mixer tap with incorporated shower, the shower mounted on a riser rail, installed over the bath, work in this situation?

DIYer not a plumber - but i would say no
It would need a pump, if the hotwater tank is big enough

if you measure from the tank to where the shower head will be - that will give an idea of flow/pressure

i'm in a bungalow and the tank was in loft - and never got a great shower , tank was to small to be pumped

I used 22mm from tank to tab and 11mm shower pipe from screwfix

so from bottom of the tank to the top of the shower head was only a couple of foot at most

in the end we changed to a combi boiler a few weeks ago

Measure the from the bottom of the storage cistern in the loft to the shower head position (difference in height). That'll give you the pressure available, probably not enough.
