My elderly mother wants some handles installing around her bath to assist with having a shower. She has quite a nice bathroom and doesn't want the large white hospital type which she could probably get installed for free by the local council.

My question is, what are the best type of screw fixings to attach these handles to ceramic tiles on backerboard?
Also, has anyone else gone down this route and can suggest some nice silver coloured handles and where to get them?

Many thanks in advance.

What is behind the ceramics and backer board.
You want / need fixings that go all the way through and into something firm to take the weight of a person falling onto / needing support from them.

Ideally using stainless steel screws and sealants.

DO seek (often free) advice from a Council occupational therapist with regard to bar lengths / positioning and diameters to suit the user in the bath / shower and elsewhere (eg to assist by a toilet). Even if you supply and fit your own.

I don't like the ones linked to as they have a sharp end either side of the fixings (both straight and wavy curved types). Potential to be hit and cause a bruise, or maybe worse. Curved ends and cover plates on the fixing screws are my preferred style.
