Hi everyone,

I've got a Hudson Reed D-shaped bath and normally to close or open the plughole you push down on the plug. The spring has come out and I can't work out how to get it back together. There is a small hook in the plughole that connects to the centrepiece in the middle of the spring. It seems like it would need precision surgery to piece that back together and I am reluctant to call a plumber just for this small job.

Any ideas?

Not on a bath but I`ve seen springs and hooks where you rotate the spring. ( like a screw rotates)

The centre brass holder, the piece that's still in the waste, unscrews, then there is a screw on the side of that piece that holds the top piece and spring and makes the whole assembly one piece. Chances are something has gone though and you may need to replace the mechansim or waste

Hateful bath waste fitting, dont like them (n)

Do what Madrab ^ mentioned, unscrew the lower brass part fitting inside the tub and try to reassemble it. The photo does not show the internals of the brass part still in the tub, they vary (n)

Consider changing the spring piston mechanism, they do fail :?:. Like a lot of plumbing they come in different sizes
