Bathroom Ceiling (black marks)

Hi everyone

(first post - please be gentle)

I've got these black spots on the ceiling of my bathroom. Its like black paint marks - ive got a feeling its due to the steam from when I take a shower. There is an exhaust fan in the toilet to keep the bathroom ventilated.

Any ideas how I get rid of these? Is it a simple case of applying a fresh lick of white paint? What can be done in the future to counter it?

Probably mould spots, clean with diluted bleach to kill it before any repaint, my personal preference is to use masonry paint for bathrooms.
