Bathroom extractor fan installation

Cheers for the tip; I might have to build a small platform for the unit to go on, the insulation completely covers all of the joists.

Hi chaps,

Just to say thank you for your input; I've bought all the kit, and it should arrive this week. If I may ask one further question, Foxhole suggested mounting the in-line fan from the rafters with springs (in another thread). Would such springs be bungee cords, the kind used on roof racks etc?
You could use bungee, though I used springs off an old childs pram.Only needs light duty springs as weighs very little.

Hi Foxhole,

Did you suspend it across two rafters, or just one? The unit I bought doesn't weight that much, but I don't know how much weight one can safely load on a single rafter.
