The extractor fans fitted in my bathrooms used to come on automatically when you switched on the light. They don't work now. I can't find a fuse in the unit or the switch to check. What do I do? Keith.

Find the 3-pole isolators and make sure they are not switched off.

Buy a multimeter for £8 in the High Street or DIY shed.

Turn off the power and find the terminals in the fan.

See if power is going to it on the Permanent Live all the time; and on the Switch Live when turned on.

If no, find the fault in the switch (probably) or other connections.

If yes, buy a new fan.
