Im thinking of fitting a new fan in the bathroom and wondering if its possible to install in myself. I know the bathroom is a 'special' room split into zones, but what are the regulations on wiring a new fan into a light circuit? the fan would be pull switch operated and installed into zone3, can a competant diy person do it or would i need to get a certified electrician?

A competent DIYer can do it, as long as he notifies building control and pays their fees for inspection and certification.

In all seriousness, it may be cheaper, and will certainly be less hassle, to get a recommended electrician to do this for you.
