I'm currently renovating a first floor bathroom, and have removed the floorboards (split, badly damaged and smelt of wee).

I was planning to use 18mm P5 chipboard, but have been put off by bad reviews.

Would WBP Plywood be a better solution? If so what thickness should I use (joist 40cm apart)?

I'll be tiling over the boards.

Any advice greatly appreciate.

25mm wbp will be rock solid. Never ever ever ever tile on top of chipboard. (actually never ever ever use chip as a floor  )

Read the tiling sticky at the top of the tiling page for the full lowdown.
