Hello
My bathroom has an xpelair humidistat fan which has packed in.
I bought a replacement a few months ago manrose Xp100h but have only just come to fit it.
The xpelair had only 3 input terminal L N and E. The manrose has a switched live terminal as well. The wire running to the fan is only 2 core and earth. All other wiring requirements in the instructions are met. (Double pole fused spur with 3amp fuse and 1mm2 cable) . There is also a fan isolator switch in line. Can this fan be safely installed bearing in mind I probably can't return it, due to length of time since purchase.

Many thanks.

Are you sure your new fan is actually an XP100H?

Not, say, a 100T?

"XF100H Humidity control which is adjustable between 40% RH and 95% RH
Complete with integral adjustable timer (1-20 mins)"

Please post of a photo showing the inside include the connection block and the adjuster(s).

Would you be able to get at the connections in the ceiling rose for the bathroom light, where the fan quite likely gets its supply?

well that's a surprise. Not a bad idea, though.

Try putting your L and N wires into the N and PL terminals, leave the SL empty, and turn the humidity sensor to the driest setting. You can adjust it more accurately later.

My interpretation is that the humidity switch will turn it on, subject to humidity, even when SL is off.

I think that if you connect the L wire to the SL terminal, it will run continuously, which is probably not what you want.

Thanks I'll try that.
The fan is in its own supply from a fused spur. It's not linked to the lights.

I have one of these models, (i think).

Yes, if the humidity is bad enough, it will switch on (without the light input).

However, for best results it is better to have the light connected, and turn the light on before you start to shower, (and use the humidify sensor for the run on)

The humidity adjustment takes a while to get right

edit: if the old fan only has 2 wires +e that will be a switched input..... so will need adjustment for humidity fan

Thanks, that helps me make sense of how it works.
At this time I'll have to run it with just the permanent live. It would be alot of messing about otherwise.

Thanks for all the help. So long as it's safe to wire it by permanent live only there's no harm in me trying it.

Ahh yes I see what you mean. But it will be left switched on. And should only operate when triggered by the humidistat? Right?
