Not sure if this is the correct forum, but since its a light, I'll go for it.

My bathroom light has come loose and when I removed the light fitting it shows this:

The metal rawl plugs have dislodged from the ceiling and now leave these ridiculous holes. The plugs will go back into the holes but spin round and are not fixing properly.

How do I re fit the coupling ? Does it need a good skimming ?

Cheers for looking.

Fit a piece of wood in the loft, above the fitting position, between 2 joists, and screw through the ceiling into the wood.

You might get away with screwing the plasterboard fittings in new positions, but it's all looking rather crumbly...

I've used these in the past. The 'wings' fold down to allow insertion through the hole and then spring open. Be careful not to trap the cable between the fixing and the plasterboard. All DIY sheds and most hardware shops sell them.

Move the plasterboard fixings to a different position and.or try and find a joist to fix on to

Smash it all out with a club hammer then sit in the corner of the bathroom crying until someone finds you.
