Good evening all, firstly my apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I have a moved into a fairly new build home and I want to change the light fittings in both the main bathroom and ensuite as they are hanging from their current plasterboard fittings due to the weight (they are not suitable at all!) I have purchased 2 similar but much lighter versions and wanted some advice on what to use to fit them.

I have located the positions of the joists but neither light has been secured to these (I can only assume as this would make them off cente) so they have used 2 plasterboard fittings in each light which now spin in the plaster.

The new light fittings have 3 screw holes rather than 2 and are much lighter, should I use plasterboard fixings again? toggles?

I cant really get up into the loft to fit a baton so was hoping to fit them in their current location.

Thanks in advance, sorry if ive waffled on!!

Toggles are best I tend to use 5mm ones, usually with a penny washer, them screw in fixings are sometimes not much use, especially if the plasterboard gets a bit damp which it may well do in a bathroom.

If you have fitted the hollow anchor plasterboard fittings they can be a pain to install correctly and are best installed using a setting tool

The problem using toggles if you ever need to remove the fitting plate/bracket you will lose the toggle female spring.

The best method would be install across noggin, but as you say this would be difficult.

If the fitting is lightweight then, I find the standard nylon plasteboard wall plugs are satisfactory.
