Hello ... first post, having recently discovered this great site.

In the middle of planning a bathroom revamp. Need help with a couple of things if possible please....

1. At some point there has been a leaking bath, and the flooring under the bath is black. The floor material looks like it is some kind of chip board.. not sure. Can this be replaced quite easily? Will keep the same thickness of material, however what is the best replacement.. chip board or ply or something else?

2. Pipework and tap fittings. Is it possible to use flexible hose and push fittings to connect a tap to a bare copper pipe?

There maybe more questions int he next couple of days ... hoping someone can offer guidance.

Many thanks

Hi trevor welcome to the forum.

Q1. Yes you can replace the chipboard (check it is rotten and not just stained first). The easiest way is a circular saw set to 18mm. Try to locate the joists and cut the chipboard down the centre, to give you somewhere to fix to. You will also have to fix some noggins between the joist too.

Q2. Yes push fit will be OK. Take the opportunity to fit service valves at the same time.
