Hi

So the problem I have is that my shower is fitted directly above the bathtub.
Water seems to collect in pools of water at the top of the bath.
Anyway the real problem is that water seems to be getting under the bathtub, running down the Aqua Board behind and under the bathtub then creating damp patches in the floor. Thus leaving water patches on my Kitchen Cealing :(

My dad has tried several times to seal the bathtub ...I don't understand why then water can be getting past the bathtub.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers
Paul S

Pay particular attention Paul to the silicone seal between bathtub and tiles, the condition of the tile grout in that area, and the seal between the taps and the bathtub.
John :)

If you are saying you have eliminated any leaks from the pipe work or drainage under the bath and it is definitely a leak between the bath and wall then why are there no photos of the seal between the top of the bath and the wall?

Anyway there are hundreds of threads showing how to re-do the seal properly on here, do a search using the search facility: //www.diynot.com/diy/search/2483801/?q=bath+seal&o=relevance

Is the bath stable?, any movement will allow water past the seal as it can split.
Bath should ideally be sealed both before and after tiling to give a double seal.

How would it cost for someone to reseal a bathtube? also my plumber suggested putting some sealant into the system to seal any possible leaks.
Is that a good idea as won't it damage the boiler?

Erm is that last post a wind up? Putting sealer into the CH system has nothing to do with the water running down the bath?? Unless he believes there are heating pipes in the wall/under the bath and the leak is coming from them?

Re the bath leak, cant you run the shower just around the seal and watch if it where it comes from??

I seal baths in 4 stages - under edge on the baton and on the bath edge against the wall, fit bath and fill with water ASAP then top edge between the bath and the wall. Then tile down to bath and filled and sealed again between tiles and bath edge. If that's all done then it has to be the tile grout.

If there is a shower screen fitted it is leaking from the spine.
Remove it completely, seal behind the spine where it meets the bath and re-fit.

No it's not a wind up mate.
Yes it is damp around the rear of where the hot water pipes come up behind the shower see attached picture.
I think I will pay to get someone in to do it professionally.
