Bathroom tap sound and drip

Hi
Recently the cold water bathroom tap starts running a bit of water with a sound but this only happens when the kitchen tap is turned on. As soon as the kitchen tap is off, the sound and running stops in the bathroom tap. The separate hot water tap is not affected.

Any suggestions?

Does water flow out properly when you turn the bathroom tap on, when the kitchen tap is either on or off?

If it's a groaning/horn type of noise then it's the water pressure acting on a worn ceramic valve, only solution is a new valve or tap. Loads available.

Presume you have relative good water pressure?

Have you got a cold water tank in the loft, and a hot water cylinder?

Or have you got a combi boiler?

It can be a mixer yes but you have a 2 hole basin there and a mixer is a monobloc (single tap) so it will look a bit weird.

You can get monobloc mixer taps that have a base that covers the 2 holes in an originally separate taps basin.

Where is the bathroom relative to the kitchen?

It seems a weird issue to me, but it must be caused by increased water pressure at the bathroom tap, and an inadequate valve or washer on the bathroom tap.

Just Google "mixer taps for 2 hole basins" and you'll see quite a selection

I did and outwith amazon's east imports and B&Q (which was actually the same as amazon) I didn't find much.

I wasn't talking about the eastern imports that proport to fit basins @ 200mm that are in essence the same size as bath or sink taps that have been adapted. They usually don't look right on basins, just too big, believe me I've tried,

I have also found that not all basins have the same spacing for their holes. Some are 200mm but other aren't, especially smaller or older basins , maybe why the larger, quality suppliers don't seem to do them.

It would be good if they did them, had a few clients asking but I think it would be hard to scale a deck mixer that would look and in proportion on a basin.

Your points taken.
But if the OP has a basin with two holes in it and wants to fit a central mixer tap, the only option - other than trying to find a mixer tap system that spans the two holes - is to replace the basin with one that just has a hole in the middle.
Covering one of the holes in the existing basin with a blanking cap and using the other hole for the mixer tap would look terrible!

It's a combi boiler in a one bedroom block of flats so the tank will be central
