Does a bathroom containing a shower require a fan for ventilation? The bathroom has an openable window...

thanks as always

Depends if new build it is a building regulation to have a fan in the bathroom. Old is not reulation but i would definately put one in anyway

thanks d,

the house is a new build - 1 year old. A power shower was installed but no fan. I thought this was because the room had an openable window...

can anyone provide a definitive answer on this?

All new build bath/shower rooms must be fitted with an extractor fan.

thats my point... this one wasnt

You could contact the builder and ask why it wasn't installed, it may have been an oversight on their part. In which case they should fit one.

thanks Salem

talked to a housebuilding friend of mine. He tells me that a fan isnt required if the house has a type of air conditioning unit in it. This is the case with the house in question.
