Hi All,

My house came with batten bulb holders attached to the beams supporting the roof. They are the white ceramic type with led bulbs on them.

Can I replace them with metal ones (I'd need to earth them of course)? Main concern is impact to beams because of heat or in case of short circuits.

Thanks so much!

Easier and safer to use a fuse. You can get metal, and since 1966 earths have needed to be run to lights even if light is class II unless portable, or suspended.

Not tested an LED bulb, but would suspect whole bulb would melt with excessive heat, so metal holder unlikely to help.

How hot do they get?
LED lamps are generally way cooler than traditional tungsten.
If they are not on 24/7 they won't get more than "warm"

Easiest change would be to buy an LED fixture like a flood and connect it or use an LED panel
