Afternoon all
Got a challenge on my hands. My wife has just upgraded us to 'Intelligent Octopus Go' which seems anything but intelligent. The problem is that we have a GivEnergy battery and an EV charger (Zappi). On our previous tariff (low cost electricity 11:30pm - 5:30am (with no intelligence to my knowledge) I had a working solution to prevent the battery charging the car. I simply used the car's schedule not to accept charges except between 11:30pm - 5:30am during which the battery was being charged as well.
In order to make use of this new plan it seems i have to blind the battery from the EV charger. I understand this is achieved by the positioning of CT clamps and that the battery clamp needs to be upstream of the EV load. However, this appears not to have worked.
The set-up we have for the battery is shown below:
It can be seen that the main feed from the meter goes into a splitter and splits the main positive feed into two separate cables. One of these cables goes into the house (B) and the other to the Zappi EV charger feed (C).
This suggests that if i moved the GivEnergy CT clamp (A) which is currently on the main feed to the splitter to cable (B) which is the feed into the house, the CT clamp should be blind to the EV charger which is now downstream of it. However, this did not work (the battery was still discharging to the car) and I returned the clamp to its original position as shown above.
BTW: The other CT clamp which is connected to the box on the right (the clamp nearer the splitter box) is a Harvi which I understand is part of the Zappi myenergi system. However, i can't see that it is relevant to the battery blinding equation.
I note that the battery feed is into the splitter as well. I'm assuming that this is the challenge but can't see that adding another splitter near the meter would assist electrically.
Any thoughts welcomed. Thanks
