Hello
My daughter has a leak at the back of her boiler, it looks like coming from back of heat exchanger plate. I have heard talk of washers may need replacing. I,m quite handy ..fitter..and would attempt to fix. What do you recommend"any sites to show repair"many thanks

2 screws to be removed after isolating cold supply and draining system water from boiler. New seals are readily available to buy. One oth easiest plates to remove. Don't know of any sites, but the MI's have detailed instructions on how to remove/replace plate.

Hi

Thanks for last reply.....just had another look and leak looks to be coming from above heat exchanger plate...can see inlet and outlet for expansion vessel but above that where seems to be leaking...do these vessels corrode, can see priming cap at top which looks dry. if diaphram leaks this i guess would cause safety valve to lift, but no sign of water from over flow and pressure is low , not high?

Hi Lads thanks for the advice....but i realise i'm being vague but, when i look into boiler from front, there is water dripping from above where the 2 fittings are on the pressure vessel. What is behind that plate that could leak. The pressure cap and fitting on top of prv is dry. Could it be leaking from a corrosive vessel. I would need to get behind boiler to actually see where water is coming from..Is there any other parts out of site behind plate?

No just the expansion vessel up the back.

If water is running down from behind the boiler then the vessel will probably be goosed.

Its definately not coming from further up above the boliler?

Hi Lads

thanks for getting back.

No the boiler is in the loft space and have checked the leak is definately from the boiler and is dripping onto the frame work inside as though it is coming from the prv. Maybe it is spraying from small hole, looking at the floor in loft it is stained, so may have been gradually leaking for some time. I think it is the vessel, so will look to locate new prv alongside with new connections. Can you explain to me please why there is 2 connections, I thought there would just be one as it is inline with heating and just acts as expansion, with air pressure above diaphram?

Also can you buy flexi hoses to lead to new vessel?

thanks
