This morning I stuck the shower on to discover that I had hot water for about a minute then it went cold, got hot again after a short period then went cold.

Turned off shower and tested hot water tap, same thing happened.

Tried different water temp settings, same problem.

Turns out the burner goes off after about 60 - 90 seconds then comes back on after it's been off for 15 seconds.

Anyone got any advice? I have seen that this could be down to the diverter valve diaphram, does this sound likely? What is one of those? How much will it cost to have an expert come and fix it?

Thanks in advance and what a great resource this site is.

Hi i think your problem lies with the hot water plate heat exchanger which has probably got sludge from the central heating in it :? this can be taken out and cleaned out or ideally replaced

I agree, this problem is quite common because system are not flushed or inadequately flushed on installation. Would also check the heating return filter as this will also be blocked.

In that case I'll get a man in.

I've looked at the instructions and though they seem straight forward i'm not prepared to risk it.

Thanks again.
