baxi 80e sensor problem

hi,
i have a problem with one baxi boiler, it's hot water sensor goes every 2-3 months .
scales build up on sensor and boiler won't fire up on hot water demand

any perticular reason for this or long lasting solution for this problem

it could be that the mod valve is nackered in other words it is not modulating and over heating all the time.
