I have a Baxi 80HE plus boiler that was fitted about 8 months ago and has started sometimes making a very loud noise like a trombone when it is running. I've investigated a bit by taking off the casing and the front plate and the noise is generated by some sort of resonance between the air pressure from the air being sucked into the fan, and the casing. To stop the noise I can just put my hand between the fan intake (not blocking the intake in any way) and the casing which makes it gradually die away. If I then remove my hand it starts again.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, and how to fix it as it is loud enough to wake my kids in the bedroom above?
Thanks
Matthew
