I've got a Baxi Bermuda 551 boiler with a wooden fire front. On the Governor for the fire, with I think is made by Evered, the centre cap is missing. It seems to be an anti-tamper cover for the Governor adjustment screw. You adjust the Governor screw, then screw the cap on, then fit an anti-tamper seal. Is this cover just there to prevent tampering, or does it provide a gas-tight seal? Does the cover screw have a washer? How bad is the missing cover? Is it safe to use the fire without the cover?
