my baxi bermuda gas boiler when we switch on for heat or hot water the pilot flames up ok and you can hear the clicking for the main flame but mostly the boiler switches off without firing up it usually takes around 10 goes to get it to fire up any ideas

Sounds as if you have model with electronic ignition. Exact model would help, but having said that you cannot DIY this boiler as a fair bit of dismantling of gas carrying parts is required. Get a pro in.
