Hi folks,

First off let me thank you for the advice I've taken from various posts on this forum (and the FAQ's).

My question is:- on top of the boiler pump there is a small air/vent screw? is it supposed to be left open? if so, how far open i.e. 1 turn; 2 turns? or is it supposed to be screwed in?

At the moment it's about 1.5 turns open and there is a small amount of water coming from it...

Thank you

Alistair

Leave it open so it can automatically vent your boiler if needs be,just leave the cap loose,if you vent your rads then when you fill the system up this needs to be open or your system will start banging and cutting out

oh its leaking i didnt read all of it ,its knackered if its alot of water ,shut it up and get it replaced

Thanks for the replies Zimmers - it's just a drip, not a lot of water.

I have re-charged the pressure vessel and put water back into the system (1 bar) and after 3/4 hours I checked and noticed the small drip (not constant_ and traced it to that screw on the pump.

Thank you

Alistair

It might be losing more water than you think, because it's hot and most of it evaporates.
Not a big deal to renew it.

ChrisR thanks.

Did you mean replace the screw or what exactly? (sorry to display my thickness so openly  )

Alistair

it is an aav, you need to replace the inside of it as it will keep leaking

Hi all,

Thank you for the help so far, stops me fretting

The pump om my boiler is a GRUNDFOS Type UP 15-60 AO and the serial number is :- S/N 59926502.

I take it the AAV in ChrisR's picture is the one suitable for my pump? (just to be sure)

Also, what do you use to unscrew it as it's round(ish)? Will it turn by hand or will I need a special tool?

As I need to drain the boiler (FAQ's) to do this will I then need to pump up the Expansion vessel again before I refill the boiler and fire it up?

Thank you

Alistair

I wouldn't go to all that bleedin effort to show you the wrong part

Hi,

I didn't get where I am today by being sensible 8)

Thanks for the help. While I'm on the line, do you have a spare part number for PRV for my boiler please?

Thanks

Hi,

"It never rains..." so the saying goes. I have just noticed that inside the boiler on the left hand side as you face it, that one of the two nuts around two small 'wavy' copper pipes is leaking (and has been for some time if the build up of scale is anything to do with it!)

If you check out the second big picture in this thread, the pipe can be clearly seen (it is the pipe furthest in

Can anyone tell me what I need to order and the part numbers please.
