Hi everyone

Pretty much the title really

We moved into this house in October, it has a Baxi neta tec 28 GA fitted with a hive thermostat for central heating control only wired to low voltage controls

Has been working fantastic but since we had our electric smart meter installed, the boiler likes to fire up all by itself.

It's 02.30 at the moment and the house is like a sauna. Looking at the hive logs, the heating must have come on whilst we were out yesterday as the home temp rose to 23c from about midday, but the hive wasn't 'calling' for central heating, we only have it set to 'manual' mode.

Can anyone advise what the likely issue could be?

We had an engineer out a few weeks ago who said it could be a faulty hive receiver calling for heating, this was all replaced.

He did note that the diverter valve was noisy? Could this cause our issue?

What I have noticed is, if when the heating is on (but hive is off) if I manually turn off the heating, power down the boiler from the power button on the controls, wait a minute or so, power it back up and return the boiler to HW + CH mode, it works fine for the next 12-24 hours.

Any ideas?

A proper boiler service would be a start. No guessing, proper diagnostics. Needs to be done by someone who understands how the boiler works and sequences.

It had a service just after we moved in, boiler was working fine for weeks and weeks

It's only the last 3-4 weeks it's been an issue.

The original engineer who did the service was the one who came out again and said diverter valve noisy (makes a rattly noise)
