Hi please can you help

Im having issues with my hot water running between hot lukewarm and cold. Also today there was a loud banging noise from the boiler when the hot water was running

Can you advise what the issue could be

Thank you..im getting this replaced tomorrow part is 120 pound

This will be the 2nd heat exchanger that I have had replaced is it worthwhile flushing out the system too??
