Baxi Solo 2 30 PF - No Central Heating

They've all just come on by themselves and gone off again after about 2 minutes. The boiler to touch is reasonably hand hot, the radiators are warm... probably from the CH going on and off sporadically, and the room thermostat is at 25. The 'boiler on' light has remained on though again

Not sure its ethical to say who did it... Lets just say they have a nice big nationwide flashy ad in the yellow pages and they 'respond quickly'. I've called them and someone is coming again tomorrow... Hopefully someone different from the guy whos been the last several times... and he won't be getting a bloody cuppa either!!

Do you have thermostatic valves on your radiators? try opening them fully if you do.

Good luck tomorrow

I wasn't asking for you to tell me who they were, but I would humbly suggest you should not have to pay anything more as they seem to have covered most things already. Only you know what is happening between you/ them and how confident you feel with their ability, but this boiler is not usually hard to fault find when you are in front of it

Methinks the 750 quid they've cost me already is more than enough and they can whistle for anything else now!

Thanks alot for all your help. Off to pick my 'not so blonde' other half up from work

Cheers!! :)

Its been on for.. 2 hours..... Eeeek!!!!! Apparently, repair blokey yesterday had put the valve on back to front (probably hadn't but I'm dense and they could tell me anything)... NICE LOVELY repair bloke today redrained system, put it on the right way around... and voila!!!!!!

Hot radiators

No scorchingly hot water

No funny noises

*Does a happy dance*

... Bloody hell... its hot in here though! Not sure I should dare turn it off!!! :D  :D

Not in this lifetime matey!!

I can even turn it off, and it actually comes back ON again when I want it to!! Amazing huh?

I think the motto of this is that if you telephone a "call-out" company as I like to call them then its a lottery who you get. They may be OK but not always. certainly in London they are mostly not very well experienced.

The expertise of an independent local boiler engineer is likely to be much higher and the charges much lower too.

Its always best to get someone by personal recomendation though. My recommendation is not to be paying while they diagnose the fault on an hourly basis, that means you can be paying for their incompetence.
