Bay Tree Query

Hi.

I have just bought a spiral bay tree (laurus nobilis) from my local Aldi.

On the label it says "for decoration only, not for consumption" - is this right? I was hoping to use the leaves in cooking.

If it's really a laurus nobilis, you can cook with it. Check some images of the leaves online to make sure you've got the real thing. The retailer is probably just backside-covering for numpties who might chomp the leaves raw if it was labelled as edible. I believe they can cause irritation.
