Bay window French doors

Hi we have some bay windows in our dining room that we want to change for bay French doors. We've seen some nice ones and have had some quotes but I'm worried we might need a lintel and advice from a structural engineer but my husband is adament we don't need to and we can just get a double glazing company to come in and sort it and that we don't need a lintel. We have the same bay windows above in our bedroom. Any advice. I am of a mind just to get a SE in anyway to feel better about it. It's a standard 1950s semi.
