Hi guys. Would like a narrow beam across drive that I can set about 3 feet above ground level which I can connect to my WiFi and get an alert off a spare phone I already use for overnight car alarm activations via an app.

I have suitable bushes either side into which I can mount a transmitter and receiver.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

I have suitable bushes either side into which I can mount a transmitter and receiver.

That part is easy, the receiver is usually mounted in the transmitter, with just a reflector at the far end. I use one across my garage roller shutter door, to prevent it closing onto an object. It also lights an LED mounted in the far end of the garage, so I know I have driven the car in far enough, to clear the door.

It has NO/NC voltage free contacts, so would be easy to interface to almost anything, even a wireless doorbell.

Can you get a power cable out there? Any sort of beam will need a permanent supply

I have a good router and network switch. I also have an alarm but would prefer it to be separate with a notification to my phone.

Could you post link to the bits you've used please?

Have a look at this ….i did look at these a few years ago , I have the older VX402 across my drive , it’s set every night and it’s never activated unless some unwanted scroat has come up my drive ….

If the beam is triggered, you're going to want to know what it is.

Maybe a camera with motion detection to start recording and issue an alert?

I got one when we had a neighbour who sadly got dementia and used to roam about uprooting things.

Some wifi security cameras, include a facility to trigger a warning message, plus recording a short video when trigered - maybe worth looking at?
