Beam Depth

Hi
I am making a beam up with three 12x2s bolted together. Unfotunately only 9x2s are available due to import issues. How can I make up the depth.

295 x 46? are you sure? JAS Timber has stock I believe

Re down to 9 x2 Are you flitch plating them? otherwise you wont get the deflection coefficient. I would suggest JJI/Jiffy and would be far cheaper and easier to calculate loadings or Glulam if they are to be seen.

You have 132 x 72mm to make up therefore you could sandwich the top and bottom and plane through or get your timber supplier to put it through a thicknesser.

or 3 x PAR 27 x 132 and again plane 9mm off
