I want a bit more rise to my new toilet because of the fall required to soil pipe. About 8-10 mm is all I need

A builder mate suggested using plastic packers ( like you can get from screwfix/wickes) and then edging with silicon to disguise the packers and gaps. There is a ply wood sub floor.

I want to use vinyl flooring, so would it be best to wait until the floor is laid before doing the seal all in one go? Or shall I seal the pan first and put more seal after the vinyl is laid ??

Any other sensible suggestions welcome ...

Cheers

I would use WBP ply cheaper than marine and better than ordinary. vinyl down first then ply and pan then silicone round the edge.

Thanks for all inputs. I have read about ply plinths. Trouble is you need to make a good job of getting a precise cut and wood absorbs.

Just thinking; would cutting a floor tile to the shape of the base work. I have some odd ones.

Anything against packers? They don't rot. They can be secured down and easy to cut.

The vinyl is also having to go on last thing

8mm isn't much, you'll get that much play on a pan connector. If it's going straight out you could cut it close to the wall and fit a connector with an extension. It will be ok if it's running level until it reaches the original pipe (assuming it's not too far).

Denso, the pan outlet is just over a foot away from the stack. There's a 90 degee bend after the toilet outlet.
The original soil connection that is sticking out of the boxing in by about 15 cm around where the stack is; has a very slight fall on it, so maybe it could be done that way
Nervous about chopping it off and creating another problem. I'll see what connerctors with extensions there are.

Any pointers of good gear would be appreciated

Definitely parts from the multikwik range - don't use rigid connectors - horrible things

Novice question: Why is Multikwik gear so rated ?
Is there any other brand that compares?

I would guess it's because they specialise in that type of product so their development is much more specific. McAlpine would be the only other plastics manufacturer that I would recommend, I don't use anything else.
