Hi folks,

Newbie here so might have might have included too much/little!

I’m currently first fixing for bathroom redo, but having never done a bottle trap and countertop basin before I wanted to double check a few things. I answered a few of my questions by looking through other threads but couldn’t find these.

Firstly, the trap to wall section looks to have zero gradient to me, presumably you need to start a gradient immediately behind the wall/boxing or could it go straight through the wall then drop outside to stack (flat run would be about 350/400mm)

Secondly, is there a standard height for bottle traps and angle valves or is it a case of whatever looks best? Basin top will be at 850mm, basin has height of 130, shelf is 36mm thick.

Cheers!

A very short section of horizontal pipe is not the end of the world as long as there is fall before and after to give the flow momentum but a straight section out of the trap and then through the wall all flat would give a section of say 700+ mm being flat? That's not ideal.

Not sure what you mean about standard height for the traps, not really, the height of the trap is usually determined by the height of the basin waste or if the basin trap is adjustable then it can be adjusted to fit the waste run.

Not sure what you mean about angle valves, are you talking about bent isolation valves? They are just whatever suits you and gives easiest access in a rush.

Thanks Madrab, appreciate the reply! i was talking about the type of set up here - I’ve seen them with both the waste pipe at above/below the valves and level but sounds like it’s down to preference and/or where the pre-existing pipework is. Thanks again
