Bottle Trap extension length question.

An easy one for you

I am installing a wall hung basin, and am looking for a chrome bottle trap. The distance of the plug-hole to the wall is 225mm, but it is proving difficult to find a trap with an extension of this length. So my question is;

Can you simply cut a bottle trap extension to the required length?

Yes, but.....

Most are only 200mm long. Peerless, if you can find a stockist, do one 300mm long.

The bottle trap I am looking at comes with a 330mm one, so I should be sorted to cut that back.
