when your fitting bellcast bead along bulding line and you get to an external corner how do you join the beads together at the corner? Mitre? Or something simpler

Yep, cut a mitre. Just use a pair of snips and nip a 45 degree corner off each piece of bellcast. It doesn't have to be a perfect mitre because it'll be covered with render anyway. As long as it's near enough it'll be fine.
