Do you pay much attention to whether your using bends (spring or machine). Or elbows when installing a heating system, in copper.

Depends how good you are at bending. Sometimes bends can look neater. But if the pipework isn't on show then it doesn't matter. On a standard heating system. The slightly less water resistance you get from a bend vs an elbow will not make any difference

The resistance of an elbow is the same whether it is part of a large system or a small system. In a small system one elbow will create a higher percentage of the total resistance of the system.

Formed bend every time, elbows are for Cowboys, course Cowboys, career change chancers & DaftyDIYers
1) Two less chances of a leak
2) Less resistance with a formed bend
3) Looks more professional
4) Less chance you'll torch the gaff
5) Cheaper than buying fittings
6) No flux near the copper tube, so it'll corrode it

That's only six reasons.
