Benefit of shortening pipe run?

Hi,

I have a combi boiler which feeds a shower via about 8-9m of 15mm pipe. As part of some other work I'm doing, I could possibly reduce this to about 3m of pipe (by running the pipe along one side of the room rather than three). I could also change the run to 22mm pipe.

Is there any benefit in doing this? I'm hoping for a slight improvement in pressure and/or quicker warming-up time when the shower is turned on. I presume changing to 22mm pipe would improve pressure but also lengthen warm-up time, but what about shortening the run? Will the improvement be enough to bother with?

Thanks,
Mark

changing to 22mm pipe wont help, however a shorter run will result in a shorter heat up time.

Change to shorter 15 mm and insulate the pipe!

You will save water and heat!

Thanks for the replies. Insulating the pipe is an interesting option as it would be a piece of cake to do this (for most of its length, anyway - some's inaccessible). Will that make a lot of difference in an indoor setting?

It stores the hot water in the pipe and you dont have to wait to use it the next time ( as long as the next time is within 30 min etc. )
