We have the above bush which we inherited with the house. It must be at least 50 years old and stands in a spot that "takes over" the view. I prune it every year but would like do do a drastic job now and take it down to the bare wood to about 4 feet high. Am wondering if it would survive, wouldn't like to lose it altogether.

Where is is NOT in the list of shrubs that tolerate severe pruning for rejuvenation. So I’d say it would be better to domit over a few years.
