Wife complained that she was having to top up cooling water. Had a look and discovered that the bleed screw had been broken off the thermostat housing. Not having much joy locating a replacement today. Question is, can it still be driven? If not is there some sort of temp repair I can carry out until it's sorted. Thanks in anticipation.

It depends how much water you are loosing, I'm sure you appreciate the consequences if you run out. You could block the hole up with some filler or sealant.

Thanks for the reply. Off to find some heat resistant waterproof sealant.

could you not take the thermo housing off, either tap it yourself to match the thread of a brake bleed screw, or take it to an engineering shop and have it done, alternatively you could use a self tapping screw until you get the new bit
