Hi All,
Hoping somebody with more knowledge than me can advise on this storage heater please.
I have a number of these in a property that I want to remove. They are slightly different sizes but all look very similar.
They're all branded as Berry Magicoal.
I took the cover off of one, and the model number is 4601.
I'm concerned they may contain asbestos. Can anybody confirm if they do please?
I've checked the online registers for storage heaters and this model doesn't appear on any of the lists. I can find almost no info online about this brand of storage heater.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Have you read the other posts linked to below. If they don't help ring the manufacturer

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have read all of the other posts I can find, and can’t locate any more info unfortunately. As far as I can tell the manufacturer went out of business a long time ago so have no option to call them.
Cheers

The only other thing I can suggest is to contact one of the companies that advertise parts for theie storage heaters and ask them or failing that take them out and if you need to disturb the material you think might be asbestos then dispose of it sepatately using all necasary protaection.

says Magicoal SRO, SR and SRC have a small white asbestos pad only under the thermal cut out

And Mk1, Mk2 665 / 668 and Mk3 665 / 668 are all in the "Asbestos Free" column...

Biggest problem is that site seems old and no means of contacting the 'owners' for confirmation/verification. However, if there's a serial number with date of manufacture then post 1975 seems to be more likely to be asbestos free. You need to locate the rating plate info for your units.

I note the above website (I found via a google of Berry Magicoal) has the same list as the earlier thread.

Hi,
Thanks for this reply. I’ve attached a photo of the info plate for one. I did also try contacting a supplier of spares and they weren’t familiar with the brand and suggested it’s likely another model from someone like Dimplex rebranded. I tried Dimplex too and the person on the phone hadn’t heard of Berry Magicoal.
Cheers
