Hi,

We currently have a Boilermate II and Wallstar boiler - looking to update this system as its 13 years old and we have been advised boiler will shortly need a replacement fan. We live in a hard water area so lots of neighbours boilermates have leaked - so we want to get the job done before its urgent.

The question is what heating system would you recommend????

Thinking either replacing with another unvented system or switching to combi boiler?? Our house is 5 beds and 2 bathrooms. We would appreciate suggestions before deciding what to get quotes for.

Thanks

The little wallstar has been doing well on a 5 bedroom house.
No reason it shouldn't run for another 10-15 years.
Parts for oil boilers are cheap and life expectancy is usually 20-30 years.
The fan and the burner motor are cheap looking at £40-50.

Replace the boilermate with an unvented cylinder. Usually cost
of new unvented cylinder is about £500.

Sorted.

Don't like combi oil boilers myself. Big heavy things and reduced
life expectancy because the burner takes more of a hammering.
