I Need some parts for my Glow worm combi. Trawled the net and found lots of suppliers and the prices vary quite a bit.

Example - New plate to plate heat exchanger from £132 to £209 delivered!

Anyone got any tips or prefferred suppliers offering good deals.

Ta.

I found that by being regular user of them Parts Centre gave me excellent discount in the end.

But now PTS is doing spares locally so we shall see what happens.

But for generic parts you can't beat Antares, however it's a gamble trying to guess which plate is for which UK boiler and so on. At least with Parts Centre you are getting the right part. That said they are having a little troiuble with the foreign workers in the warehouse puting wrong part in the envelope so though on the envelope it is right part no. the actual part isn't that at all.

For instance I ordered a pushrod seal got a push rod instead, but part no. on envelope was correct, just had wrong thing in it. The Turkish picker must have been cross eyed, read the label with one eye and guided the hand with the other. The counter staff tell me this is a very common story nowadays, ever since the foreign workers were employed in the warehouses that all these parts centrally come from. They even have tales about a piece of cardboard being picked. There is no test for reasonableness, they are automatons.
That said I have been sent many wrong parts direct from boiler manufacturers too. Order a spark electrode and get sent a dummy electrode. Order a vertical flue terminal and get a horizontal one. I suppose the accountants have taken over, don't pay the people who know the product to do the picking, looks great on a spreadsheet but they don't accoun for the fact we turn up maybe 70 miles away with a part in our bag that's as much use to fix their boiler as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.

Most suppliers will offer better terms to time-served tradesmen, than dodgy CC/CCCs or DIY'ers. All Corgi/Gas Safe RGIs are known to suppliers & will get a far better deal.

Yep parts centre will always ask for a corgi number,
Dont they.??
Surely they never just said they would just to get thousands of pounds of free advertising a bit like the plumbfix /screwfix scenario

Oh well 'sadsack' if you are dealing with national suppliers like that, you deserve to get ripped off!!

Small indie suppliers will always give you a better deal, on anything.

Oh, I don't think there's any need to be rude! But there again i can't expect anything else, when you are hanging out your sister most of the time!!

Your getting better but still missing that cutting edge ,keep trying

THE BEST DEALS ARE AT PTS.. LOOKED IN TO THIS ALOT AND SEEM TO HAVE THE BEST SERVICE AND VERY CONPETATIVE ON PRICES.. TRY THEM OUT YOU WONT BE DISERPOINTED.

For your first posting you have managed to add to a three year old posting! Also posted all in capitals with some spelling mistakes!

It seems you work for PTS?

Do you use such a lack of care when you are at work?

My own experience of PTS is that since a helpful fellow at Acton left I have found PTS to be the WORST of all the chains!

Apart from unhelpful service they are unable to give proper prices unless you have a credit account ( which I dont want ).

Just because you have had some bad experiances does not mean we all have. I bet you work for part center. everyone else all i am saying is try for yourself.

It's actually 2 years Tony, can't you count; do you do creative adding up on your invoices?

To be fair, penis player also revitalised a 2 year post, as this threasd started FOUR years ago.

But it DOES loook suspiciously like spam!
