best method to attach plasterboard to new wall

Hi,i need some advice on how to attach to new extention walls,i know off dot and dab but my problem is i need to keep as close to wall as possible so i have seen the pink grip drywall silicone stuff is this any good or can i mechanically fix to the wall and what fixing would i need,the finish on the board will be paint so any help appreciated
