Hi all,

I’m about to lay a wood-effect laminate floor in my living room, dinning room and hallway.

I’ve read up in the archives about turning the laminate upside down when using a jigsaw, but I’m going to have a lot of straight cuts to do so I intend to use my mitre saw (a Dewalt 707).

My question is: What is the best blade for cutting laminate? I assume a blade with more teeth the better, but is there an optimum number of teeth or a specialist blade that someone experienced can recommend for the job?

Many thanks!

i feel it's near on impossible to cut laminate without getting chips.

generally however i find that most cuts are covered up by the skirtings and door thresholds so it doesn’t matter that much.

i use a circular saw with the planks upside down for most cuts.

if it's an area that going to be seen ie around a fire place then i use a jig saw with a blade that is specified for cutting laminate. the plank is cut top side up. i also take the pendulum action off for this cut and reduce the speed to about 1/2. i sometimes put masking tape over the cut line 1st as i think this helps a little.

have a look at the screwfix website for ideas on blades (typ 73450)
