Best option for decking?

Hi,

I'm planning on putting in some decking level with the bottom of our patio door frame. Not sure what would be the best way to go about this? Should I use a ledger with spacers or just make the deck free-standing with a drainage gap? Also, should I remove the slabs and use posts in concrete or just level the support frame on the existing slabs?

Thanks,

Gary

For that small area - assuming the area is reasonably flat and doesn’t fall away too much you could use spacers on the existing slabs, just make sure the joists can take the expected load

Just my opinion as a DIYER

Thanks Blup.

It's going to be this size (3.6m x 3.6m, excluding the diagonal cut), if that makes a difference..?

Don’t think so, the self weight of the deck should suffice
